Perched high on Billingen mountain in Skövde, Sweden, lies Billingehus - a family-owned hotel where history, nature, and design come together to create something truly timeless. Built in the 1970s as a “paradise for body and mind,” Billingehus has always been a place for wellbeing and connection. Today, thanks to a thoughtful renovation, it stands renewed - embracing its bold architectural heritage while opening to the surrounding nature and modern life.
"We wanted to keep the soul of this hotel, but still bring it into today’s life. When you arrive here, you should immediately feel connected to the nature around you - and inside, you should feel coziness and comfort, a place to slow down." - explains Amanda, one of the owners.

Combining Nature and Design
The 1970s character of the building remains visible in its striking lines, white and dark-brown contrasts, and graphic architecture. Yet the spaces are softened and opened through large windows, framing sweeping views of forest, sky, and city below. Inside, the atmosphere shifts between earthy calm and playful retro inspiration. Comfort was at the heart of every design decision. “Guests don’t just pass through,” Amanda notes. “They stay, they linger, they spend hours in conversation, at dinner, or simply relaxing. The furniture had to invite them to do just that.” Cane-line furniture supports this philosophy throughout Billingehus. Soft seating and timeless forms ensure that guests can sink into a sofa or lounge chair and lose track of time, feeling both at ease and surrounded by beauty.
A timeless retreat for Body, Mind and Soul
Beneath the hotel lies the hotel’s Earth Spa - a sanctuary carved directly into the mountain. Here, raw stone and subdued lighting create an atmosphere of stillness and intimacy. “Earth Spa is about escaping the noise of the surface,” Amanda says. “It’s a cocoon, a place to feel grounded.” Two floors up, the Elevation Spa offers the opposite experience - expansive light and breathtaking views. Inside, an infinity pool stretches toward the horizon, while terraces open to two heated outdoor pools overlooking forest and fields.
Here, Cane-line furniture plays a defining role in shaping the atmosphere. Indoors, the Nest and Hive lounge chairs invite guests to curl up after a swim, paired with Twist coffee tables for moments of calm. Outdoors, the terraces are furnished with Relax sunbeds, Basket and Ocean daybeds, Coast lounge chairs, Circle footstools, Glaze side tables, and the elegant Sense sofa series. Together, these pieces create a seamless flow between water, landscape, and leisure - a setting where time slows down.
“We wanted to create places where guests could sit for hours. The colors, textures, and furniture all help shift your mindset into another state - where you leave your worries behind.” - Amanda explains.
Dining with a view
The experience extends to the hotel’s outdoor restaurant, where Cane-line designs frame panoramic views over Skövde. Sense sofas and lounge chairs, Twist tables, and Ocean dining chairs combine international elegance with Scandinavian ease, turning each meal into an occasion.
As Amanda reflects: “It’s not about following trends - it’s about creating something timeless. Durable furniture, timeless design, and comfort - that’s what allows guests to relax and enjoy themselves.”
